Ok so you've got a filter for your sink and your fridge but now wonder what about all of the chlorine you're getting exposed to from your shower or bath? Chlorine is often described as a known carcinogen. Ingestion via drinking water, or even via hot water bathing - affects everyone, albeit differently.
Many complain that Chlorinated Water irritates their skin, dries out their hair, and inflames their eyes & mucous membranes. Some believe it contributes to childhood respiratory problems, such as asthma...
I grew up in the pool and was swimming since age 2 so I've had my fair share of exposure to Chlorine and as much as I love swimming I don't want to be adversely affected by this toxic chemical on a daily basis in my drinking water and shower. So I was looking for a way to reduce exposure.
I've researched some of the best shower filters on the market and wanted to list the one I like below. I tried this one and like it a lot.
Pros: has a 2-stage filtration system for not only chlorine but also other chemicals.
Cons: this thing is heavy and kindof large so if you have old plumbing or a weak shower neck it might be too heavy for it..also the replacement filters can be a little pricey but it is your health and the quality of the water is great. Your skin will be much softer especially if you have hard water in your area.
Stage 1 removes chlorine and enhances pH balance with a natural copper/ zinc mineral media called KDF-55D. The second water filtration stage uses a carbonized coconut shell media for the removal of synthetic chemicals and VOCs that vaporize and can be inhaled or absorbed through the skin potentially causing adverse health and cosmetic effects.
The easily replaceable water filter lasts 10,000 gallons, about 6 months, and installs simply
Hope this helps!
